We will begin by diving into the question, what is new media?
Design and New Media Art overlap more than ever, and influence each other greatly. Part of being a strong, responsive, and effective designer is developing a strong conceptual and critical thinking practice, and also developing an understanding of a wide range of tools and approaches.
Project 1 is a series of experimental short assignments that offer instruction in four areas of digital media art: glitch art, sound art, video art, and net art. The goal of this project series is to provide a foundation for the course and empower you with a series of new tools that enable you to experiment and think creatively about solutions in your design practice.
Each short assignment of the project is designed to help solidify a basic understanding of the technique and approach. And most importantly, this project series aims to help you understand the way that digital media and networks play a role in your life at this time.
